How to Spot Fake and Replica Gucci Dog Tags
Don't get burned when you're looking to buy Gucci dog tags. If you get caught paying high prices on fake dog tags you could be out at least $100 bucks, fake dog tags cost as little as $15 on iOffer.
So how can you tell the difference between authentic tags and the real thing?
Buy From Places You Trust
For starters it's always the best idea to buy your dog tags from reliable retailers like Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue. Retail prices on these is around $300.
Telling the Difference Online
If you really have to shop online, like at an online auction there are easy ways to find out if the Gucci dog tags are replicas or not.
The Numbers on the Controllato Card
When you see an advertisement for these dog tags, they will usually claim that they come with a card that certifies authenticity. This is called the "Controllato Card". There's as number on this card, and if you look carefully at the replica cards they usually come with the number "1234567890". I really don't know why they didn't scramble these numbers, but it was a stupid mistake that allows you to easily spot fake dog tags.
The Engravings on the Tag Itself
There's also a difference between the engraved lettering on the front of the tags. The circled R at the top of the Gucci logo should have a space around it. On the fake tags, the engraved R touches the bottom right hand corner of the circle. Check out these pictures to see the difference.
Notice the R symbol that touches the circle. This is a cheap engraving job, these dog tags are worth around $15.
Here's authentic Gucci dog tags from Neiman Marcus. Notice the clean engraving and the circle is separated from the R. These tags will run you about $300.
If anyone else has any other ways they can tell the difference between real and fake tags, please leave a comment!
